Travis Simmons, MD | DirectMed DPC (New Braunfels Location)

As a primary care doctor his passion is helping people find the path to physical and mental health and wellness that works for each unique person. He pursued additional education in integrative medicine through the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, and functional medicine through the Institute for Functional Medicine, which equipped him with perspectives/tools not taught in traditional medical training.

It has become clear to him the trend in healthcare is constantly toward higher costs, lower quality, more fragmentation of care (excessive referrals), and less time with patients. He joined DirectMed DPC to combat this disturbing trend, because he believes that the direct primary care model allows him real time and relationship with patients that naturally leads to higher quality care.

For Practitioners:

Collaborative care teams within medical practices are becoming more commonplace, as there is evidence to suggest health coaches can help practitioners achieve better patient outcomes as well as reduce clinician stress and burnout. By adding a health coach, practitioners are able to focus more attention to addressing the medical care needs (which can be complex and intensive), allowing for the coach to support patients with adhering to treatment plans, creating sustainable health habits, and motivating them to make necessary lifestyle and behavioral changes. As a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach, I am trained in the same functional medicine principles outlined by the Institute of Functional Medicine, and can seamlessly blend coaching with the clinician’s treatment plans in order to increase patient engagement, satisfaction, and success. I would love to learn more about your practice’s needs and how I can better support you!
